August 1, 1932 – April 30, 2010
Vernon Jean (Vern) Justus, 77, no longer walks by faith, but by sight. He has exchanged the temporary for the eternal. He went to be with Jesus (Yeshua) on April 30, 2010. Vern was born August 1, 1932, in Omaha, NE to Vernly V. and Eva N. Justus. His sister, Mary Jane, was also born there before the family moved to Detroit, MI in 1942, and then to Oklahoma City in 1944. He graduated from Putnam City Hight School in 1950 and attended Oklahoma City University before joining the Army in 1953. While stationed at SHAPE Headquarters in France, he met Anna Maria (Mia) James, who served in the Dutch military, and they were married in Louveciennes, France on September 3, 1955. They moved to Edmond, OK where their son Vernon Robert was born in 1957. Vern worked as an industrial engineer at Aero Commander. He also worked servicing medical equipment inOklahoma City, and upgrding radar sites all over the U.S. for FAA.
Vern and Mia both met Yeshua on May 2, 1971, while attending Springdale Alliance Church. In 1992 they helped establish Rosh Pinah Messianic Jewish Congregation where Vern served as an elder and finally as treasurer. After his love for Yeshua and his family, Vern loved photography, ham radio, electronics, reading and talking. As Vern grew in his relationship with Yeshua he became a godly man and began to realize how precious the people in his life were. Vern is survived by his wife, Mia, sister, Mary Jane and husband, Paul McCullough; son, Vernon and wife, Deby; and children Jessica, Evan, Keith; nephew, Rob Lake; neice Amy Gilpatrick and son, Preston.
