Rosh HaShana

Written by Leon Clymer on . Posted in Yom Teruah

Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) is the day designated for the blowing of the shofar signifying Israel's return to the land of their fathers and to their Messiah. "And it shall come to pass in that day that the great trumpet shall be blown and they shall come who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem". (Isaiah 27:12-13)

Rosh Hashana and Teshuva

Written by Leon Clymer on . Posted in Yom Teruah

Rosh Hashana, which literally means the "head of the year", marks the beginning of the Jewish calendar year. Rosh Hashana is colloquially called the "Birthday of the World", for it is said that GOD created the world on this day, the first day of Tishrei. Other traditions say that Rosh Hashana marks the creation of Adam, completing the creation process.
