Recently, when I heard Pastor Dwight Cunkle, a dear friend of Kehilat Rosh Pinah, use the term, VISION CASTING, the proverbial inner lights went on even as a mental picture of how that term could apply came to me.
The mental picture, applied to our congregation, may include something like this: our congregational shadow, by the grace of GOD, stretching across our community, our state and beyond for the glory of GOD and the furtherance of His rule in the hearts of all. In other words, the desired effect might be this: marked congregational impact by His grace, on the local and trans-local level. Could it be that the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob desires for the Gospel of Yeshua (Jesus) our Messiah to not only permeate the congregational life of Kehilat Rosh Pinah but also to be greatly extended beyond our community? Surely I think that you would agree with me such is the case.
GOD is continuing to restore the Jewish people to Himself through the atoning work of the Messiah and by the power of His Holy Spirit. From within the framework of the redeemed community of Jews and Gentiles representing Him on a local level, the LORD is commissioning His emissaries to further represent Him on a translocal level. This stage of spiritual calling could be termed the ‘Set Apart for Me’ Stage, based upon the passage of New Covenant scripture found in Acts 13:1-3 "Set apart for Me....for the work to which I have called..."
What may be critical to note about this passage in Acts 13 is what preceded it: a deep level of community cohesion despite considerable pressures and a firm commitment to the purposes of the LORD on a personal and community level. From within this type of humble spiritual community the LORD was able to separate those whom He desired as they "ministered unto the LORD". Ministering unto the LORD ever remains the essential vocation of the redeemed community: the greatest recipient of our time & efforts and substance that He provides for us.
As we enter into a new season in the Biblical calendar, the Fall Feasts of Israel, it is our fervent hope and prayer that we will all the more be part of His community reaching out to those around us and beyond. Our spiritual vision at Kehilat Rosh Pinah will continue to include ministering unto the LORD, the strengthening of our community in Him, and outreach beyond our own borders. You will want to note our High Holy days schedule of services and the other scheduled events of this autumn. In particular, we are honored to host the South Central regional conference of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America, scheduled for November 9-11, 2001 here in Oklahoma City. The theme of the regional conference is appropriately, "Yeshua: the Light and the Glory", a reference to the Deity and the Sovereign eternal nature of our Messiah. As we begin a new year we are looking to the Lord for a renewed sense of vision, spiritual purpose, His enablements, and His calling upon us. Let us believe the Lord that this autumn will mark some new and exciting progress towards His goals for our community on a local and translocal level. After all, Messiah is the great vision caster unto His people and we are to follow in His footsteps. What a privilege it is to follow and obey Him.
